Mrs Hurst is the Maths. Co-ordinator.

In Sycamore Class we cover the following topics throughout the year which support our work in Science, History and Geography: Changing materials, Electricity, Forces, Healthy Humans, Plants and Animals, Habitats, Rock, Light & Dark, Dinosaurs, Vikings, Transport, Africa and Our Global Garden. We arrange visits to support our work in the curriculum including visits to Tesco Farm to Fork and Danelaw Viking Village.

In Literacy we cover Information texts, Non-Chronological reports, Explanations, Instructions, Stories with familiar settings, Traditional stories, Different stories by the same author, Poetry and Drama activities. We also have fun exploring a range of specially selected books through art, talking, writing and role play.

In Numeracy we use a range of differentiated workbooks and activities to include problem solving and investigations with lots of opportunity for practical, hands-on work.

We are twinned with Purlwell Infant & Nursery School and take opportunities to visit them and build bonds of friendship through learning.

In Sycamore Class we like to create a colourful, stimulating and challenging environment in which all children feel safe and are able to develop the confidence and independence to become life- long learners and most of all have fun whilst they are doing it! We celebrate our achievements on a daily basis and appreciate everyone’s contribution to our class.
